Wesley Methodist Primary School Forth Road, Manchester

Y3/4M

Welcome to 3/4M!

We have had a great time learning all about the Stone Age and rocks this half term, including writing our own version of the story of Ug and his inventions. We have been writing some exciting non-fiction texts based on the events of some well known fairy tales. Next half term in science we will be learning all about how light works, as well as starting our new geography topic on the local area.

Our spelling challenge is on a Tuesday and new spellings are given out on Wednesday to learn for the next week. We ask the children to write sentences using the words they have learnt to apply their understanding.

Our times table challenge is every Wednesday and we encourage the children to practise all their times tables as well as their focus for the challenge. Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and interactive online game for children to practise their times tables at home and at school.

Homework is given out on a Friday to be returned the following week. Each week, there will be a Maths and English homework as well as times table practise, reading books and spelling practice.

We encourage the children to read as often as possible and change books as soon as possible once finished. The reading books that children take home are for enjoyment so we like to hear from them about what they liked about their books. Children also get a library book they can choose themselves to take home every Friday, or when they finish.

P.E. is on Mondays and Thursdays at the end of the day. Full P.E. kits are required and should be left in school ready for the lessons.

Thank you for your continued support!

Miss Marechal
