Current Pupil Premium Strategy 2024/27
Introduced in 2011, the pupil premium is a sum of money given to schools each year by the Government to improve the attainment of disadvantaged children. This is based on research showing that children from low income families perform less well at school than their peers. Pupils who are Looked After or Previously Looked After and children who have been eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) qualify for the pupil premium.
Evidence suggests that pupil premium spending is most effective when schools use a tiered approach, targeting spending across 3 areas (please see tiered model below), with a particular focus on teaching.
- Teaching (e.g training, support and professional development for teachers)
- Targeted academic support (e.g one-to-one/small group tuition and speech and language therapy)
- Wider approaches (e.g breakfast club, counselling to support emotional health and wellbeing, help with the cost of educational trips or visits)
The strategies typically run for three years with an annual statement that indicates the proposed spending for the current academic year. Our current strategy runs from 2024-2027.
Please see below for our current Pupil Premium Strategy 2024-25 which outlines how we intend to use the funding this year. You can also view the historic evaluated strategies which share the strategies used and review the impact of spending in the previous academic year.
